The Through a Queer Lens: Portraits of LGBTQ Jews exhibition is the result of a unique collaboration between Black Queer artist Ajamu and Trans activist Surat-Shaan Knan, and grew out of the landmark Rainbow Jews project which documented Jewish LGBTQ history in the UK.

The twenty portraits are a diverse group of individuals, they are activists and academics, artists and performers, rabbis and educators, administrators and executives, the exhibition is on display at The Jewish Museum from 11th February to the 17th April 2016.

What the viewer sees is what I saw when I looked through the view finder, a complex interpretation of the moment based on many aspects of my own identity, experiences and cultural politics. Ajamu.
